This is one Bipolar list! All right, i'll fess up...it
was I who placed the lithium in the coffee urn....
...and i'm a stamp snob too. I left my sig stamp at
home once and needed a replacement fast. I looked at
the store-bought stamps and just could not bring
myself to do it. I bought an eraser and an x-acto
knife (for a whopping total of two dollars at
Wal*Mart) and carved the most heinous stamp known to
man while my mom drove. The armadillo is missing an
ear and the JO part of the stamp has a deformed O.
There are 8 boxes in NW Ohio that bear the "ugly
armadillo" stamp. That stamp may be ugly, but I made
it and that's the important part. Try carving. It's
not nearly as hard as it seems. Just don't do it while
in a car. You'll totally "van gogh" your armadillo!

You jest! It is well-known that I, the greenest turtle of them all,
have carved what is known as the world's crappiest stamp!

You can only aspire to reach the dreadful lows I have propogated. =)

I hooked a 'blog friend of mine on letterboxing when I went to visit
her in Chicago. After the second box, she made me stop at a dollar
store where she bought a cheap set of exactos and a big rubber eraser.
She had a finished stamp with her name spelled out in relief before
we arrived at the third location and while playing native
guide/navigator to boot!!!

Hey Armadillo Jo,
I find it hard to believe you ever carved an ugly stamp!! One of my
favorite finds is an ugly little stamp carved by an 8-yr old...but
it's really quite awesome because he put it out there for others to
find and enjoy. Yes, I'm also a stamp snob and prefer pitiful
attempts at hand-carving, any day over a store-bought stamp. But
I've also learned that I prefer the store-bought ones to nothing at
all!
